When will the Free the People Campaign Land?

This post started its news gathering (but not writing which is happening now) a few days back when I saw a ship on open seas on Microsoft's website. I almost blogged about it, but then thought a bit, and for whatever reason, decided not to.

Of course, Bott ate it up, covering it so fast, I almost wrote a post on the spot about how I meant to write a piece.

That is... until I checked to verify if this was indeed the beginnings of the super ad campaign we've all been hearing about. And by verify, I mean have someone else do it for me. Turns out this ship isn't the flagship of the marketing fleet. But has the flagship even sailed?

Honestly, I'm not sure yet. Microsoft has been keeping this thing under wraps more then Windows 7 itself. However, there is news leaking out about it here and there.

Like the recent MGX conference, a Microsoft only event, that featured some of the campaign for softies. And they are impressed with the way the company is going, but more so, where this campaign is going. They have been giving highly positive reviews.

And its obvious to the softies that their company needs it. And there is definitive proof that this is just an image issue at this point and not a quality issue, something even Microsoft is admitting.

When will the actual campaign land Microsoft?
